By all accounts my grandpa was a story telling, writer, actor and more prosperously in his youth, a ships captain. Where he commanded old school cargo ships around the world for the British East India Co in time when the British Empire were the real pirates of the seven seas. Young Frank was pretty handy with the old quill and ink and with shiploads of time on his hands navigating open oceans, he'd illustrate countless sea and landscapes on his travels. This detailed lighthouse scene was from a London to Gibraltar voyage he captained in 1923. I re-worked his original drawing on acetate film with rotary pen ink to produce a negative image for hand printing on a black SAX Tee. Reckon Frankie boy would have been proud.
